Hello all! Well, here's my story:
My first career was in architorturefor 17+ years until 2008 due to industry DEPRESSION and layoffs twice in 6 months. After moving from So. Cal. to Co. and almost a year of being unemployed and the money started running out, I decided to put my hands to buying a painting business. Yeah, I know...bad timing with the economy...especially for a semi-discretionary business. People may have to paint, but they'll put it off for another year or two, if hard times are upon them...or just go to the Depot and get their own brush. I call that 20/20 hindsight
. So when I stumbled upon an opportunity to go to CDL College, late last year, I decided to go for it! My grandpa was a trucker, so it's in my blood.
Now I'm finished with school, and I have my license with T-X endorsements, and actively seeking employment. I have a wife and three kids, so home time is important, but paying the bills obviously is too. Don't want to go OTR, but will if I have no other options. Companies I'm considering? Trimac, Dean Foods (have a connection), Groendyke (if they'll take a newbie), Schneider (maybe team - 7000K sign-on right now). Any suggestions? I'm all ears. Anyway, hopefully we'll see you out there soon.
Oh...Arch4whlz...It's maybe obvious now what it means...I'm trading architecture for wheels...18 of 'em to be exact.
