(unless things have changed) Wanna carry a gun and not have to worry about getting thrown in jail for it? Then carry a flare gun! Cops cant do anything about it,shippers and receivers cant do a thing about it and i promise you. If someone breaks in your truck and you shot em with one. The only thing you will have to worry about is how to get the smell of burning flesh out of your truck.

    Or....

You can get a concealed carry permit and only run the states that will honor it. There is no federal law that says you can not carry a fire arm in a commercial vehicle,The State police in Richmond VA looked it up for me and another driver just a few months ago and could not find one law saying that is was illegal. But he did say that there were a few states that would not honour a permit regardless of the issuing state.

I think that the only reason companies/shippers/receivers dont want you to have a gun in the truck is because they are afraid that you will get tired of all of their BS and start shooting!

It all boils down to this.

If someone breaks in your truck, what do you think is most likely to save your life. A cell phone or a 45 ACP?

We live in a nation full of victims but i myself refuse to be another statistic and my Sig Sauer sleeps right beside of me every night!

    Bingo!

My biggest fear would be trapped in the sleeper berth with a couple thugs breaking in the truck. At that point, only a gun would save your life.

I'm not some Chuck Norris tough guy. I'm not going to try to fight my way out, unless I have no choice.

But wait! I DO have a choice! It is a S&W 642, .38 revolver, with .38+P FMJ hollowpoint ammo in it.

wow.IF you are able to discern as much by simply reading a post,WTF are you doing driving a truck?
Your declaration is the equivalent of me stating that you drive for a large company piloting a 63mph truck(that you keep in the truck hammer lane in a 70mph zone) that has qualcom, automatic trans, back up alarm, super singles, vorad, and paperless logs as derived by the way that you phrased your idiotic comment.
Oh wait- I am correct in my assessment of you aren't i?

And how often does that actually happen? Maybe I'm not searching for the right terms but when I look at google, I can't find any articles about truckers who were attacked inside their truck.

I did find this article though. http://gresham.katu.com/content/trucker-attacked-wallet-stolen-troutdale-truck-stop

They came up behind the guy and knocked him out cold before he even knew they were there. Not sure a gun would have prevented that.

The fact that it could happen is probably enough. That is your home after all. My question to you is why do you care so much? It doesnt seem like anyone here is being irresponsible with them and the complete opposite of it actually. You want the bad guys to be the only ones with guns?

This forum is visited by tons of noobs. This thread was created by a noob who seems to believe that the chances of being attacked inside the truck are sufficient enough to warrant carrying a gun. I have no issue at all with anyone who chooses to carry. But for the sake of those who are unfamiliar, I think its important to keep the level of actual risk in mind in threads like these.

You want to carry simply because it could happen? Go right ahead. More power to you. I just think its important to to remember that there is a difference between something that could happen and something that's likely to happen. I'm just trying keep the relative level of risk in mind. Why do YOU care so much that someone would want to do that?
