So if a company for pre-hire wants to test your hair... if failed your saying it cant be added a failed test on your DAC because it isnt a DOT certified?

Who told you that? Next time you state something like this, you should insert a link with the source from which you are basing your statement. If you've heard it in a truck stop, I am almost certain it is not true.

Hair test may not be DOT approved, however as a private business the law does not prevent them from use any means to test for substance abuse, the question now is who sets the standards for such tests? Do the sample collectors use sterile gloves to handle the specimens? how about re-using the same scissors for multiple tests? Is the individual being tested making it clear on the test submission sheet of these questions in writing next to his/her signature? I have done it myself to cover my own ### in case there are problems with false-positive results.

Now the DAC report is also a private run operation, just like the credit reporting agencies. If one has a bad entry on it, one can file a dispute challenging the bad mark, it becomes well documented.

I have a solution to this problem.
Don't use drugs if you have a cdl.
Because they are never going to be legal.

Hair follicle is for DNA analysis. Drug testing tests the hair shaft. I stand corrected.

the only people who worry about the hair drug test are people who do drugs. Just don;t do em, you'll be alright. They also take hair from your arm, a lot of it, if you are bald. I've never had a problem, cause I don't do drugs

    bigjoel and pete1 Thank this.

I never understood why so many drivers ask about drug testing... like everyone is saying; do not do drugs. If you need to smoke weed, pop pills and or smoke crack, go get another job. There are plenty of jobs that don't test and some don't care. Hell, my cousin smokes weed while at work with his boss working construction, maybe that is where you dopers need to be.

I am bald and albino, doc plucked a hair from my 6 and showed that my party days with the Grateful Dead back in 1979 were pretty bad.

    Pass the bong please!

I worry about a false positive, nothing is 100% right all the time. And the lab is probably outside the USA. The tech doing the test is
under paid and over worked and could care less. How many samples
do you think the tech doing the test handles a day. And the reason
they got the contract is they were the low bid. I don't do drugs either
but grew up in the 70s enough said.
