With all the post in reference to making sure the school you attend is PTDI certified, why do I not see anyone mentioning the CVTA certification? Its my understanding the PTDI is a paid for certification by the school. Does the PTDI actually do anything to monitor these schools or do they just cash the checks they receive from them? What about CVTA? Is this the same thing going on with this certification?

PTDI is better than CVTA...CVTA is basically a lobby group for trucking companies and schools, where as PTDI is focuses on the level of curriculum. In my opinion, CVTA doesn't mean much of anything IN COMPARISON to PTDI accreditation.

My school is one that is accredited by both. The PTDI people do come out to the school from time to time to do audits of curriculum and facilities. CVTA certification is given to instructors based on the instructors' knowledge. Our CVTA Master instructors need to pass more than 40 different tests. CVTA does hold a permanent seat on the PTDI board.
