3 Foot has no real meaning since coax length depends 0n what kind of coax and how it's made ....

As has been established. Are you arguing or validating?

True!!!! And most trucks today have a problem!!! (No/bad RF ground to be specific!) And you can change the SWR reading by using different length coaxs. It doesn't "fix the problem", but a longer coax can lower the SWR reading so your radio is safe to use. It is not the optimal way to adjust SWR for max performance, but it will work in pinch when you don't have the time/or can't to do the bonding thing.

That's totally incorrect. You actually create a balun when you coil up your coax. For anybody that's never been able to get your SWR's down below 2.0, try coiling up your coax at the point it enters the radio. You'll be totally amazed...oh yeah, then do a radio check. :biggrin_25514:

:biggrin_2556: What has been established ?

Coax length is not the same as a wave length and 50 ohm coax into a 1/4 wave wip ( WORKING RIGHT ) will not tune it ....

Now 75 ohm coax can tune a antenna but now your using the coax as part of the antenna ...

All bets are off if your antenna AND coax are junk ...
