I like the midwest running north/south. I don't mind the northeast if the dang company would pay the tolls. From TN/AL you get stuck running I-81 which one really has to stay on their toes with all the traffic. That has to be my last choice of interstates. They need widen it to 6 lanes all the way across VA. I ran it twice a week for 5 years. I got burnt out on it. Any other direction was heaven! :)

I also ran 81...for about 4 years, from TN to NJ. I still don't care for it, and it's been 8 years since I worked for the company in question (though I did run it from time to time with Schneider). And you are dead-on correct....needs to be a minimum of 3 lanes top to bottom in both directions. And get just a sliver of ice or snow on it in VA and you might as well shut down, because the driving strategy amongst 4-wheelers in VA is "OMG!! SNOW! Gotta speed up to get out of it!".

Then you see 'em in the ditch.

You might try Wiley Sanders though they run freight all over. I know some drivers will refuse to go north and they are still working. Wiley goes all over including Canada but they are pretty tolerant regarding driver preferences. Lots of freight in the SE.

Do Not Know were you got this map but where they have the M-D line is wrong if you look it up you will find that it is more north. I know this because there is a maker that says that you are crossing the M-D line and it is north of were this maps has it

One might argue better weather.. Least in the North you hardly have to worry about the snow, picking your truck up and throwing it.. like a tornado or hurricane lol.

The Mason Dixon line extends all the way west along the bottom of PA to the border of WV, does not drop down like this map shows.

Having never lived north of the Mason Dixon line I was tired of paying for new shoes every time it required me to go North, I figured the carpet baggers coming south polluted so much why ad to the problem.

Well if you got it from the internet then it has to be true!
