Air runs thru the condenser with the AC on or off.
Not using ac won't keep condenser any cleaner.
In cab air filter may clog with use, but not as bad as leaving a window down in that environment. -
Why do people jump towards head gaskets all the time? I have never seen a head gasket cause an engine to overheat! The only way to check a head gasket is to replace it! Big $$$! Paperchase, I don't mean to pick on you, it's just it seems like every time there is some kind of engine problem the head gasket gets the blame all the time!

hey heavy d. dont feel like im gettn picked on. im just talkn from experience thats what it could be cracked head. pen hole n liner. etc... could be a number of things and im not sure if anyone has askem when was the last tyme he replace that thing. if thats the pic of the truck on the first page, he probly has not!. and it maybe costly but there no tyme to start shoving that money down n ur pocket now u bout the truck spend the money and take care of it... im just sayn start some were start any were but leave that a/c alone
`Heavyd Thanks this. -
i drove a company truck that was like this one tyme. and the end result was a new motor. but every sitution is differnt. maybe impossible to find two motors the same.

I was suspecting a water pump impeller as well could be the culprit. On a 50 degree day or bob tailing, i have a hard time to get the truck up to 180 degrees, but as soon as the temps rise to over 70, thats when the fan starts working to keep things cool. On a side note, im pretty positive the truck has no more than 300,000 miles on it. the engine runs healthy and the oil pressure is excellent(40 at idle and 60+ with rpm). i did however turn the truck up about 4 turns on both screws on the injector pump if that makes a difference to anyone but before that me and some other guys were suspecting that something was up with the air/fuel ratio as this thing, before i turned it up did NOT smoke at all and was slower than slow.
