$20-$25 seems to be pretty standard. As for where around Dallas not sure. Use the search box above too.

Before you go out and spend the money on a peak and tune take a look at this...

Personally I'd just throw a power mic on it and call it good. The few extra watts you might gain on a meter would sound the same over the air.

i have a 510, it worked much better once tuned. it does better with a astatic 636 mike. and good antenna. But for what that costs, maybe you should move up to a cobra 29 in space isn't the issue. Every shop has one for sale

A power mic in a truck is not a good idea......too much back ground noise!

Reading this in his header, I assumed it was not for a truck.
The main problem with power mics is people tend to turn them up far more than what is needed. -
I didn't read that.....just ASSumed he was a trucker!!! My bad......And you're right about the "main problem"........ I'm still not to thrilled with a power mic in a vehicle, although I use one of the Astatic noise cancelling ones in one of my vehicles. I'd say it picks up back ground noise about like a stock mic. I prefer noise cancelling mics in vehicles. By the way, got it hooked up to a big ol' Uniden 510!. (and yes, it has been tuned up)
