I recently purchased the BC880 RFX-75 from customcbradios.com. This is my first CB radio and my truck already has the connections set up and two antennas. I was wondering if I could use the antennas that came already on the truck while using this radio.

Without knowing the rated power of the installed antennas, it's hard to say.

I'll do some research on the stock antennas, then I'll see if I can run it with no problem.

You could always test the smoke seals. If the magic smoke gets out when you key up, then you know they had inferior smoke seals. You'd have needed to get something new anyway :)

I wouldn't have suggested he test those smoke seals. If by chance that smoke escapes, it's a real PITA to get the right amount of smoke back into it :biggrin_25525:

Well, being your first radio purchase You either were #### lucky buying from Doug or you really done your research. Congrats on a great radio built by one of the best. The antennas/coax on your truck may work but you definitely could do much better. If you do not know how to tune them correctly I would recommend taking your truck to a shop and have them tuned accordingly, using a dummy load on one as you match the other and vice versa. Being a built radio with the RFX-75 it is much more sensitive than stock and a good SWR will mean a longer life and more enjoyment from your radio.

All depends on the truck and the age of the coax and antennas. But find a truck stop that has a radio shop close by and get the antenna setup checked out before you use that radio.

I did my research on Doug. He has videos on YouTube. My antennas should already be tuned since I have all my hookups ready to plug in. Will it hurt my radio if I just hook it up and adjust it myself?

I'm going to hook it up and if it works I'll go from there. If not, I'll find the nearest CB shop in Alabama.
