If she has had children then she is a mother.
What's it matter if she is also your wife.

Mothers Day is to recognize and celebrate mothers - any mother.

Here's an idea (from ...OHMYGOSH... a MOTHER!): Ask your wife what she wants.

Getting a woman flowers when she is either allergic or has issues with things that DIE w/in a few days is silly. Depending on her viewpoint, sometimes a potted plant is ok. (Not for me, in particular, if it starts out green, it will be brown sooner rather than later.)

A massage, for most women, would be a luxury they will appreciate. Most of us don't take enough time for ourselves.

Chocolate: if she likes it, AND wants it, great. But buy quality, not crap. (I specifically requested NO CHOCOLATE this year, and specified that it wasn't a "hint" for chocolate, but rather a "hint" for what I really want.)

Hobbies: Does she have a hobby? Ask her if there are any tools that she would like for said hobby. (Example: I knit. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE some more wool. That's actual WOOL, not the crap yarn you get at Wal-Mart, etc.)

Clothing: this is tricky. Sizing is different across brands, and the last thing you want to do is give her something that is either too small or too large. I recommend shopping with the lady in question if this is your plan, so that you get her something that fits, and that she likes.

Hope this helps. Sorry, gentlemen, but sometimes what you think we want, is actually the LAST thing we would ever want.

A day away from the kids would be nice, it doesn't matter if the kids are toddlers or teens....
