Day 3 done. We just drove around for about 4 hours getting shifting down. A few people had a really hard time with it, some excelled. We learned about the W/S shifting methods. Which aren't really any different than a regular shifting pattern. 400 split, no throttle stabbing. Easy day.

Read your threads Tuttle. Seems all you do is troll forums. So thank you for not posting in here anymore.

Some people have a harder time with a truck full of other students and an instructor, it's just something they have to get over very quickly...jet460 Thanks this. -
Ya, having an audience can have a big effect on some people. I'm always been in music so people watching just isn't an issue.

Day 4. All day was log lessons. What to do, what not to do, what you can do legally and what you cant. Tomorrow will the be the day people start getting looked at more closely. We'll each be driving for an hour or so. I know I'll be fine. Just gotta focus on the paperwork.

Master the 8-2 split. Most don't use cause they don't know how to work it and are afraid of violations. Talked to 2 newer drivers awhile ago the did the split and did it wrong and got lucky and only got a log violation from the company and not the DOT.

Our instructor doesn't want us using it. He tells us that it's too easy to get a violation using it.
-
I personally don't find it that useful, except when I'm tryng to get home. But everyone runs different.. -

Nervous wreck with that examiner staring silently at me scribbling away on her little clip board.
I kept going from 6 to 9th, or forgetting my splitter.
D'OH!
I passed anyway....close enough.
The next day back at class I drove like I was born in the truck.
Go figure.
I too might be headed to Missoula on June 11th for W/S boot camp.
I just need to get some paperwork to the recruiter and hopefully will get the ok soon.
Having been an auto mechanic/cal smog tech for nearly 30 years( a profession I truly despise), I am looking forward to this in a big way.
I am 49, but I am not lazy and not afraid of hard work.
Hope W/S has room for one more.spunkymonkey Thanks this.
