im putting in 10r-7172 liner packs 800 hp cam and kurts program and setting the liner protrution at or around .005 to .006 detuning it just a little.
-
dang near the same it stretched the head bolts and then burnt it out. the high boost from the twin turbos and the heavy weight i pull plus with the accuators backed off to .025 was to much for it. thats my story and im sticking to it.
-
What kind of boost were you running with the twins?
-
peak boost was about 62lbs. but i tried to stay under 50lbs. hard to do when your grossing 140000 lbs.

I don't think it has much to do with the tuning or the heavy weights. When mine was being rebuilt it was the 3rd one my mechanic had done in the past 2 months. Mine and one other were MXS's both with cracked flanges under 500k miles and the other was an '07 NXS with over 700k and the whole side of the liner was cracked. Out of those 3 mine was the only one that pulled overweight loads and the NXS had the lower HP 475 Stage 1 tune and the other MXS was stock. I don't think the relief cuts in the heads are doing them any favors.
I considered trying to put lower compression pistons in and seeing if that was the issue but just went back to what was already in it and crossed my fingers. What sucks is it runs VERY well, even seems to pull better than the 2 tuned 6NZ's I have.
