Fine job RW; summed things up real well.

Maybe it takes being near the end to get perspective, but when you look back over a career like RW's you realize a few things.

You didn't just "do the job" through the years, you did something that really did affect the world and people around you. Look around; everything you see has been on a truck sometime and a driver made it happen. You may well have at some point hauled the food that fed a hungry family. You may have hauled the car, gas, etc for the first car that got someone to the school or to the job that let him build that family he's going to Disney World with. You may have hauled the special toy that lit some child's life. The list goes on and on.

There's never been a trade that lets an individual touch so many lives, even if it is indirectly, than trucking. No, you won't ever be praised for it and no, you will never be paid rightly for your efforts. But you can feel satisfaction at a job done well.
