I am looking to start a truck driving career.

I was previously on the drug Ritalin. I want to go back on it. Am I allowed to drive taking this drug? Will I not be hired if I confess to being on this drug (legally) prior to my drug test or if I don't confess but it's detected in a pre-license or pre-employment drug test? How about if I wait until being hired/drug tested and then I go back on this drug?

Is there a published (preferably official) list somewhere of what drugs one can't be on and drive OTR???

Anybody know how long this drug shows up in drug tests (blood, urine and hair)?

BTW, I don't have the license yet. I'm looking for a company that will pay for the training and put me under an indentured-servant deal for a year or two. Any comment on that topic would also be welcome.

    Thanks.

Ritilan is an UPPER, a control II substance.

Same catagory as meth and cocaine.

    WHAT DRUGS ARE TESTED FOR?
All urine specimens are analyzed for the following drugs:

    1. Marijuana (THC metabolite)
    2. Cocaine
    3. Amphetamines
    4. Opiates (including heroin)
    5. Phencyclidine (PCP)
Yes, abusing Ritalin is illegal. Ritalin is a Schedule II substance under the Controlled Substances Act. Schedule II drugs, which include cocaine and methamphetamine, have a high potential for abuse. Abuse of these drugs may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence.

The companies also have their own lists of drugs they don't approve of. I have heard of Ritalin, but I don't know what it is prescribed for.

Its most famous use, making it known to anybody who has had kids in the past 20 years, is to control hyperactivity in children. It helps me focus. (That's a very abridged explanation.)

Read my reply on this post

Different medications, but the regulations and company policies still apply.

ritalin ause drowsiness. my son is taking it, but if a doctor says your good to go you should be able to drive. I have meds that say may make you drowsy, but they are allowed. If a doc will sign off on it you should be good.
