part of the training program that i'm attending was in a truck simulator...boy we had some fun with that. the instructor could do all kinds of things...and he'd render some of the most ANNOYING motorists and trick traffic situations; things you'd probably see maybe once in a career...good training though. lol...had all kinds of fun with it.

After reading about Swift schools and others on here, I wasn't about to call the one in Phoenix. Definately not interested. Not young enough to sign my life away. Did that once in the Army. Maybe twice, if you consider marriage. Anyway I just need to iron out the lodging issue. Though it would be nice to know if anyone HAS heard of AIT, in Phoenix. Thats, American Institute of Technology. It is PDTI, if that matters.:biggrin_25511:

I've heard of them, but not too much from them...never really did any investigation of the schools in AZ. sorry. Aren't there any schools closer to you than that one?

That is the closest one I know about. If anything is closer, I haven't found it.

Check with your local financing source first. I know some programs require a potential student to get their physical and drug screen before they will take their application. This makes sense because they do not want to finance someone who will not pass either. It also shows some initiative by the potential student. So check the local government financing first.

Interesting thing about accreditation. The first, ACCSCT, is an accreditation for private schools similar to what all public schools have to go through. This speaks only to their business practices and how they run programs - not what they teach. The best accreditation is their PTDI or Professional Truck Driving Institute. This not only approves their practices but what they teach as well. It is specific to truck driving and certification is given only to specific sites. So if a school has more than 1 location each location has to be certified.

I was looking at the posts at the ones that were posted after me and it must be said that the 1st school that I mentioned that u needed GOOD CREDIT in order to apply was and AIT school. After doing ALOT of research I found out that this school was NOT an AIT school and that they were just using its name which I believe is illegal to do.I found out that it was a school backed by Swift and that is why the recruiter that I spoke to was REALLY pushing Swift.Any just thought u folks would like to know that so AGAIN BE VERY CAREFUL in your selection of schools and also I mentioned in my last thread that if there is no CDL school close to u them perhaps u would consider CDL training from a community college.I know the one here in Las Vegas is really good. They are very thorough. The reason that I didn't go to the community college one is because I couldn't get financed. I have an outstanding student loan with them they I am still paying back, otherwise I would of went through the college.

:biggrin_2559:What is the best path to take to get my Class A License in Massachusetts. (Companies, Schools, etc…) $5000 grand seems kinda expensive. Is there an alternative that doesn’t involve shade-e back end companies?
