Never believe a company. They try to predict the forcast but never are right. If it was Saturday I would blame no preplan on the weekend. So many drivers sit for hrs and sometimes days.DM says no loads just to shut the driver up and so there's no argueing and making the driver mad.Bottom line is too many drivers or the company is'nt on top of it and doesnt start looking for a reload till you're empty.
-
One piece of advise I have seen here several times is to announce empty shortly before you actually are (within an hour? or so). This can get a jump on the preplan, and maybe get you going faster.
Though it can backfire horribly, so should only be used judiciously. -
Im in the same boat sorta. Last week I only ended up with 1300 miles for the week. And it seems I keep ending up at my delivery about 12to hours too soon so I end up sitting and eating up my 14 hour clock. Right now im stuck in Brooks cause I made my drip this more img when it wasn't due until tonight. And before anyone says it, I sent in my practice and eta yesterday morning when I picked it up....

Does most of your deliveries go by appt times only?If so ask your company to give you FCFS loads.
-
Can't do that with a qualcomm where they can track your location. -
1... are you sending in your eta/pta over qualcom? I've never sat more than a few hours. and I mean send that sucker in as early as you can, I send it in as soon as I get my dispatch. from what I've been told, thats when you get on that list of availability. if you are just doing your empty and expecting to get dispatched right away, theres the problem (not saying thats the case, but the reply message above that mentioned sending the empty message early wouldnt even matter if they know you're going to be available at the time anyway)
2... flora, I plan my trips evenly so that I wont be sitting at a shipper that long, or if its possible, to get there REALLY early so I can squeeze in a 34. and if you're sitting somewhere for 12 hours, how are you eatting up your 14 hr clock? thats a whole sleeper berth right there -
I don't think i'd wanna do that reguardless.Like he says it could backfire. Some places you have to pick up by a certain time before they close. You know how time consuming receivers can be.
-
um... yeah ya can lol, where are you sending your empty calls from? I do mine at the cosg before I leave... but like i said if they had a plan for me they never wait till im empty to sent it to me.... not sure how it works with your preplans, assuming unless someones mentioned it previously, none of you are may employees ^.^

Not sure what FCFS loads are. But my DM says that I just keep ending up with the bad luck of being places that only have short runs that span over 2 days and less than 400 miles total lately. I've never been late, never complain, but I can't help but feel im being punished or something. Im starting to think that if I start slowing down or am late to one of the short runs that might get me out if this rut. But then I start to think that through and realize that wouldn't help so I just have to realize im screwed and can't do much about it I guess...
