I bought 2 40lb bags of salt and they pay for it. I'm up in NY state with a lot of ice and a lot of the customers don't treat there docks like they do up front for the customers.

Isn't that the truth though.Cust dont clean the lot for trks just their lot where cars park.Heck with drivers they hit something they're going to pay for it.I've been to many docks that were nothing but a sheet of ice.I have even refused to back in docks till they put some salt down.Because some of the docks were at a slope.I was mainly looking out for them so I would'nt damage their dock.

Well, its the HQ lot, and has a shop. They'd just get one of the other trucks to pull you out if they had to. But who wants to be that guy? Not me..

Normally, I can just throw my chains on the ground in front of the locked drives, and get myself out. But occassionally (not this year thankfully) I've had to go further and put cat litter down.. or in some cases, I'd put the litter down BEFORE I parked.. so I knew I could get out in the morning without a hassle.

Ya I'm in Missoula for orientation right now, the lot is dry but extremely uneven. It's a pain

You're going to find some shipper/receivers like that, look at it as 'training and experience'! :biggrin_2559:

Heck, some truckstops are like that and worse. I was backing into a spot the other day near Hastings, NE, and stopped a bit too soon; when I tried to continue backing, I realized my drives were spinning in a giant hole full of water. Thankfully locking the differential let me grab some traction and move forward so I could take a better run at it. :)

last time i was there i couldnt get out even after i had all my chains on. had to spend the night and get pulled out in the morning. way behind on my load, would have got there 5 minutes before my appt. but the rr crossing right around they corner from the receiver broke and i had to wait for monday haha.

best bet is to go to the shop and get pulled out. in helena they usually have their yard truck chained all winter., i would ask nicely if they can get the trailer out if it looks like trouble. i have done it at customers as well, the ones that have a yard truck anyway. just ask nicely and its not usually a problem.
