I just started driving about a month ago and was trying to find a company that was right for me. After looking further into werner Schneider and some other big name companies I decided to go with NTB which is a small outfit that mainly runs Michigan Illinois Indiana and Ohio. The experience has been awesome starting from my interview up to where I am now. Everyone I've talked to so far likes it there and has been there awhile so there's a low retention rate. Not a long haul company were out five home two but the pay really balances out. All in all this is a great company in my opinion.

Chronicpatriot, I was wondering how your experience with NTB is going? I am getting ready to go to school and am interested in NTB and been working with a recruiter but thought I would get input from someone currently working there.

Hi,
New drivers don't get the weekend off, the two days off is during the week.
Orientation is tolerable, but then they require you to drive with a trainer for three days. After eight years of driving, going out with a trainer is wasting my time. They pay $80 per day, but I'm use to making more money than that. Might be a good deal for a rookie out of driver training school.
I was offer a job at NTB three months ago. I quickly turned them down after learning that NTB allows other drivers to drive your truck during your two days off. This means another driver gets to sleep in your bunk bed every weekend. Who knows where these other drivers have been sleeping and with who. Ah...I place a higher priority on my health.
Start out pay was too low at .34/ mile. After a few years one might get up to .40/ mile. Cheap rates! I don't know many companies that start out at that low rate. Stop pay also low at $10 per. Even though most of the runs are drop and hook, if there ever comes a time where the driver has to unload, NTB is only going to pay you 1%. (Example: So, if NTB makes $500 on a trailer load, you get $5). Good deal for NTB, bad deal for the driver).
No prepass in truck for DOT scale houses.
Good luck with that outfit.
