800w messenger didn't play heII with your truck electrical? When I key up my Ranger 2970DX at 150w it blanks out my LCD display on the speedo, and lights up all the idiot lights. I'd imagine at 800w you could run the reefer via RF emanation, lol.![]()
No, CB, For 6 years, What have I missed?

LOLOLOL, nice... You got me.

I was up in Kingfield Maine a few months back, and got to talking to a local tanker driver. I bet we talked for a couple of hours headed down the Maine TP. I know a lot more about Maine after talking to him. It's rare, but every once in awhile you can find someone with some sense to talk to.

you havent missed a thing

I can't imagine not running a CB. Saved my butt too many times, mostly about road conditions, accidents, or backups ahead. Don't even have to keep it squelched too high these days since hardly anyone runs a radio these days.
It is a tool. Like any tool, you have to know how, and when, to use it. -
Brake lights alert me to backups..
No need to squelch them at all..
If its raining the road is wet, snowing means slick conditions ahead..
See your points and if you want or need one more power to you..
Mine has a use right now, its holding my 4 way from rattling in the pick up truck tool box
Wargames Thanks this. -
MY first week back out on the road was going east on I90/94 in WI. At exit 55 EB, there was not really a lot going on. You looked into the median, there was a car balancing on its front bumper with it's tail 15 feet in the air and teetering on the guard rail. It had just happened long enough for traffic to back up and the first EMS units to arrive.
When I drive by, I saw the driver moving and a single fireman talking with him. (hope he was ok, didn't look so hot, but he was moving).
Westbound traffic was a stand still.
Eventually at the exit prior to exit 55, they were routing traffic off I90/94 and detouring them. I caught that much being relayed to the WB traffic from the EB traffic.
The radio worked so well, by the time I reached Mauston WI some 30+ miles down the road, the WB traffic already knew what was happening and the trucks were making alternate routes on their own.
So yeah, they are an important tool.Wargames Thanks this. -
I love it when people like you wait until you see brake lights to start wondering why the road is backed up or how long you'll be delayed. Usually, you have already driven past the last exit before the backup, so you don't have any options available other than to wait it out....burning up your 14 and (if you're logging legally) your 70.
Had you been listening to the CB, you would have heard about the backup 100 miles ago, known how to get around it, and wouldn't have lost much time as a result. The Admiral, VisionLogistics and MNdriver Thank this. -
Cell phones work just as nice
-
They aren't paying my cell bill from work to take business calls.
So why should I give that number to a consignee or shipper?
