Same here. If I missed 1 hour of church as a kid, I was grounded for 2 weeks. I learned to view church as a punishment. As I got a older and studied organized religion, I realized it was just a way to control the uneducated. nothing more, nothing less. Control

I hear ya. I'm not atheist, its just I was never given the option. I was just force fed.

I've tried going back but they hate it when you ask questions. I've tried other religions, same story. Its just not for me.

I don't care if they wanna go to church that's fine, but if it happens to be Sunday morning and i need something like food or I wanna buy something before I leave on the road again I want to be able to go to a Walmart anytime and any day of the week and get it.

Yep, people gotta eat, people gotta work. That's a fact. But take a good look at the country and the moral decay. Wouldn't hurt a thing for everybody to shut down on Sunday and thank the Lord for the freedom you and I still have!!

I was raised in the same atmosphere. It does leave a bad taste in your mouth for sure. On the good side I have my grandparents who are the most religious people I know and who are also the least judgmental. I thought for sure they had always thought poorly of how many mistakes I made as a teen and young adult. After a long talk with my grandpa a couple of years ago he told me how happy he was that I had made mistakes and learned from them instead of being sheltered and having no grasp on reality like some of my family members. So thanks to him I can see that not all people are so ignorant as to blindly follow a religion and have no room for error. But just a little bible-beating here the bible says judge not lest ye be judged. So every time someone gives you a ration of crap in the name of religion just tell them to look at themselves before commenting on others. I live my life as I see fit and try to do what I can for others when I can. I'm no saint don't plan to be and not gonna be miserable in the hopes of something after this life. Besides didn't jesus turn water into wine? What are we suppose to believe that was just him showing off or was it because he really just liked wine!!! :biggrin_2556:

I strongly disagree. But we all have our freedoms.

Last time I checked, my freedom was supplied by the good men and women of The United States armed forces. I thank them every time I get the chance.

My patents church tried telling me it was "nonalcoholic". I still don't believe that for a second. The reason I don't go to church is because I'm uncomfortable and the majority of the people want to judge others whilst believing their a saint.

I do that on a regular basis. No need to shut down to do it. I just choose to do it in private, where I don't have to deal with others judging me because I missed a day, or didn't do it loudly enough, or often enough, or exactly the way they think I should be doing it, or...
