I do too... nothing irritates me more then when people down right talk down to you and act like your dumb as a doornail to sell you something. He didn't know me or know what kind of background i have. i suspect with that kinda business practice he will not be around ever long.

The majority of you will never come thru my area, but if you don't mind mailing your radio to a tech for work, PM me. One of the best lives nearby.

Ok I took my Cobra 29 LX LCD to the shop on I-65 x201 by the Petro to have it peaked and tuned. After doing it he said the radio should put out around 30w. Is that accurate for this radio? I'll have to get back with you after some test talking tomorrow to see how it's getting out, but before this it was getting only 1-2 miles. I bought this because I thought my Cobra 148 was busted, but it turns out I just needed a new mic. :). Anyhow, the P&T cost $20.00. Will see if it did anything.

If your only getting out 1-2 miles, chances are that you have a antenna issue and P&T will do nothing to correct that.

Have you tuned your antenna? what are your SWR's on Ch 1-20-40?

Avoid this guy. Buddy if mine took a cobra to him to be "Peaked and Tuned" against my recommendation otherwise. After he got it done (for $45, guy claimed peaking at 35 watts), we popped it open and beheld the sight. None of the wax on the adjustments had been broken, and the only visible change was... A clipped limiter. Took it to a trusted shop and he confirmed. No changes but a clipped limiter. It wasn't swinging any higher than 23 Watts, and the scope showed a nasty wave. It sounded like total trash.
