Out of all the things that really matter I would think a bad credit report would be last on the list or really close to it. That clean mvr will mean alot more than your fico.
I'm a stone cold rookie, gonna work the texas oil fields

I've been following Paulcouto's post from the start, along with many others, but have not posted much. (Big lurker here, sorry) I to am a wannabe. I've been in business for my self for 23 years and getting ready to do the unthinkable my self as far as closing down shop. Don't sweat it. We're wanting to transport freight not become bankers.
Everything I've heard from the schools, recruiters and other truckers is Pee Clean, and have a good MVR report. No DUI's, Felonies, etc... and we should do fine. I'd say there are a lot of folks who have got their second chance in trucking. At least that's what I'm looking for. Hope you find it to bro. Best of Luck.
Paulcouto, Thanks for an outstanding thread here! It's been more help than you could imagine.Last edited: Apr 26, 2012

I understand if you choose not to answer any of these questions here but I have a few for you.
- What type of take home does 114 hrs get you, and is that average hours (I hope it might be)?
- Are there any housing/man camp/travel trailer options around there?
- Do the Fall and Winter months affect the hiring environment there (any seasonality to the jobs)?
- Vacation, or time off options. Do they just work you until you puke, and quit, or can you get home occasionally?
-

Does anyone know the chances of getting hired in West Texas with just a CDL A learners permit ( w tanker)? Cannot afford school right now, but was hoping there were some companies willing to train. I have always heard that was a possibility, but maybe that was all rumor. Any feedback would be appreciated.

That would be Key Energy in Victoria, among others.
