Curious as to what kind of loads you carry in the van division and also the curtainside division. Thanks

curtains are a little weird, because you can't load them with a crane as the roof is in the way. and it has to be straps, as there's no place to put chains.

but recently i've carried rough-cut lumber, palleted metal coils, slinkies, bundled sheet metal, dressed wood products of all kinds, metal racking, pre-built cabinetry, armco highway barriers, caterpillar track links, empty bins for caterpillar track links, and so on. metal, wood, fabricated items. in the past i've occasionally carried shingles and palleted bricks.

they're nasty things, though. just as much work as tarps, with more trouble for less money.

I agree with dorset, I hate getting stuck with a curtianside, as much or more work than a flat for less pay and dealing with tandems.

    curtainside tandem adjustment procedure:

    1) beat pins with winch bar until they're free
    2) crawl under trailer, beat handle linkage with winch bar until it's free
    3) move handle one inch
    4) go back to step 1, repeat 1 through 4 for thirty minutes
    5) try to slide tandems, fail
    6) try to slide them with red button because flatbed tractors have no hand lever, fail
    7) repeat 5 and 6 for 15 minutes
8 )put dunnage under tandems, succeed in sliding
    9) scale trailer. went too far.
    10) cuss
    11) return to 1

Try hooking the red air line to the blue glad hand on the trailer. When you push the red button. This should lock the trailer brakes. That's what I do on some of the older vans we have that roll all ovewr the place when you try to slide the tandems.

Learn how to load them and you won't have to move the tandems. :biggrin_25525::biggrin_25525:

wish it were that easy, really. about half the time i don't get to load them.

plus my tractor is so heavy that i can only carry +/- 45,000 before i'm overgross. that messes up everybody's plans.
