Good to see you again Big John. Couldn't resist hoppers eh? I think there might be a truck shortage this year too. I could be wrong depends on how many hired trucks the merchandisers get for harvest.

Yep, they were big when I was there 15 years ago, and by the looks of their web page have gotten bigger. But they're really good folks to work for. The first time we left headed south I was barely 21 with not too much trucking experience, in a tandem with a header in the box and a combine following on a pintle hitch trailer. That big green thing filling up your mirrors, rocking back and forth going down the road can sure rattle your nerves until you get used to it. This has got to be a very early year for them to be leaving already.

I am the Fleet Manager for Chicoda Carriers. We pay our trucks weekly. all freight paperwork in to our office by Wednesday of each week is paid the following Wednesday. Like many other companies we also offer 24 hour quick pay for a small fee. Don't know who you heard it from that someone had to wait for payment - Not true.

I am seeing a few posts on here about our Chicoda. I am the Fleet manager for Chicoda Carriers. Just to reply to a few comments on here 1) we don't just grab loads off of load boards and from brokers. We have a solid customer base with good paying freight. 2) Our rates are competitive for hoppers. Our average rate per mile on just the loaded miles for last month was around $2.20/mile gross. Our average rate per mile all miles - loaded/empty was $1.96/mile gross.

dairyman; i was leased onto them back in 06-07 & i can tell u from experience with chicoda that u will easy get 3100 miles a week; once u show & prove to them u can put more legally they will give them to u. that is a straight up honest outfit; to me i couldn't have worked for a better outfit being owned & operated by steve & marsha with her skill in loads etc. u go there i can assure u that u won't be disappoined

That original post was back in February. Kind of a long time to respond to it.
