My brother and I were thinking of teaming. I hear that it is more money as you will get some consideration for more miles as well as splitting expenses. Are there any snags other than the usual things that new truckers go thru?
BTW My brother and I have lived together over the years for various lengths of time. Usually we also worked together so we can handle the long periods cooped up with some reasonable expectations. That is our lowest worry.
Man am I glad I found you folks. I had done some initial research into trucking and had contacted CR England about school and employment. They really pushed hard for me to jump in right away. I was eager at first but slowed down and decided to look up what I could find about them specifically. Glad I did I probably wont be going the CR England route.

Yeah this website is nice...you get a lot of good information...
Teams mean good business to companies because they know that a team truck can have the wheels rolling almost 24 hours. And because of this there are some slight advantages in pay too. I guess it boils down to what YOU want to do...if you want to team, look for a company that will team drive you right off the bat
as far as i know though most companies require a probationary period of a month or two before they start you on team. -
cool thnx for the quick reply.
I have talked to the Director of Training at Crete. He seemed to put things in a very good prespective. Very informative and not pushy at all. I am going to head over to their Marietta Terminal tomorrow and talk to some drivers and dispatchers. Just get a feel of whether the reality of the job entails. -
It's my personal experience as well as advice from many others that if you're looking for a good training course, not to go with the training course that companies offer...rather, go for an accredited training school or through a community college. Crete's training course is good for crete, but might not be good enough for Knight, etc. Whereas a college or vocational schooling would further your availability in the off chance that Crete simply won't meet your needs as a driver. just a thought.

great advice there. Crete doesnt own this school. It is just one they recommend. The Trainer I spoke too suggested checking here in GA for a school as well as community College courses.
I will check out the local schools and see what they offer. -
i am also looking into trucking. one thing i read at another site is if you train at a company usually you have to stay for say a year, if you leave before that you probably wont have any proof that you took the training so when appling for another job you will likely have to train all over again.
i guess that would be if you come short of getting your cdl. if you go to a school you should get a certificate. just a thought -
if you have an interest in trucking you may want to call a school near you and just talk to them and see if sounds interesting. you can call companies too and get more info. there's so much info on here it can get confusing. but most drivers will do their best to help with info and advice.
