    I got you all beat.
Come June 6th, it will be 40 years since I climbed up into that '68 freightliner COE.
Started doing line haul for ONC from Portland to Salt Lake.

    TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.

And I have met some senior drivers that need all the handholding and told what they
    must do.

Why is it a shipper can charge a $250 late fee, but you show up on time, and it still takes them all day to load you?

Been in the door for 4 hours now, and they have not even started.

So this meat load will need to be repowered. Somebody set the appt for a frozen load that tight.

I agree, but it's a phrase used for long term drivers..... At Stevens 3 years is long term because of the turnover rate. 70% of new hires just want a year and quit, the other 25% quit or get disqualified within a few weeks. *disclaimer, above statement is based on uneducated guessing and not to be confused with facts in which i have no clue as to what those really are....... This week.

I don't know what the numbers are now, but a couple years ago I was told by Bill Cheny that the retention rate at the end of two years was "approximately 3%".
I don't think anyone would argue that Stevens, being a training company, is not set up to retain drivers for long periods.
Often there is more money, and now local jobs awaiting a driver with two years good experience. In some cases, even less.
During the last year, Stevens had quite a few drivers that had left, return. Again, I don't know the exact number, but around 60 or so.

Yes at Stevens it is.Still have a lot to learn. This quote was intended for Stevens drivers who knew what I was referring to,and the endless procession of lines that we have to stand in to leave the yard. And Emu Im almost at that senior stage in age.I quess Mr.Tuttle thought he was being cute.

Because trucking companies are so competitive (read that: desperate) for freight to keep the trucks moving, that they will put up with nearly anything and not make waves for fear that shipper will take their business elsewhere.
I don't see that changing in my lifetime.
