If it gets torn down and you do discover a cracked head or blown gasket then they have no choice but to cover it right? If you've checked all the small stuff what other choice do you have, definitely don't want to continue trucking with it like that. Another thing that sucks is they will only want to cover minimum repairs in case you get in there and find something else like iffy liner height. Not a good situation but if it was me I'd grit my teeth and have the head pulled.

Tell 'em that if they fix it, it will cost them MUCH less than they'll pay for YOUR shop and attorney to fix it.
They may bite then!

There should be a UV dye you can get for your Coolant that will show up under a Blacklight. I nailed 2 Oil leaks on my Minivan that way and both were covered under a POS extended Warrenty.

Whether it is covered under warranty or not, you still need to find out what is going on with the leak. Some engines have an inspection plate where you can look inside the engine to see what may be going on without pulling the head, but most likely you will still need to take the head off to take a peak.

If you take the head off have the liner protrusion checked. Spec is .002 to .006, at .002 they tend to have leaking head gaskets. The plate between the block and head can be changed to a thinner one to raise liner protrusion.

On an acert C15 the pre coolers can also leak sometimes and the engine will use coolant. Just remove the charge air pipe from the pre cooler and check it.

I did that first, dry as a bone and nice natural colored aluminum...I have photos to prove it! lol Sent them to the service manager at Peterbilt!
