Like JDP says, you'd be very surprised how far a case of beer goes when it comes to the bill the next time your truck is in the shop. I never pay for a clutch adjustment, and have been taken care of more than that beer costs by far.

Just a little $2,500 water pump job? Hardly worth mentioning.

j/k of course. The leather vest and chaps motorcycle bunch like to joke about HD being the Hundred Dollar store. You are now shopping at the Thousand Dollar store. -
HAHA too true! My old man used to own a boat when we were kids. Any time it needed fixing he said "BOAT stands for Bust Out Another Thousand" I cant think of an acronym for truck but your post made me think of that old saying and made me laugh!

I think i will be keeping the "case of beer" in mind if these guys do a good job. They allready deserve one in my opinion for getting right on it when i took it in, they had alot of trucks to be worked on sitting there, but run mine right in when i said i have a load booked for friday and would much appreciate it if they could get right on it. They were also happy to answer my questions and didnt treat me like an idiot when i told them what i thought it was, just listened and said "sounds about right".

I did neglect to mention the $7,000 head swap where the old head cracked which was again thanks to the high temps from EPA emissions programming. MBN the last single turbo and ####### child of the bunch. Get a 6NZ instead lol..
-
One of my O/Os had shaft play on both turbos on his C-15 Acert. He chose to do the water pump while he was pulling everything apart. All said and done, it cost him a little over $8k.
-
why don't more people schedule this stuff more instead of waiting till it fails?
-
I am not too sure of how to schedule something like a water pump or a turbo. They go until they stop going, like my pump. As soon as i noticed the leaking tell tale I am getting it fixed. No other way to know until it starts to go out. I am guessing turbos are the same, how do you know it needs doing until it fails? I dont think these items can be scheduled for replacement, just done when they fail.
