My favorite roads to travel are the wide open flat lands like in Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, Iowa, all those states. Great sites!

We may have nice trucks here but 90% of the time driving here sucks #####, over regulation, tachographs , high fuel prices, over enforcement and traffic all add up to misery, so I am jealous of what you guys got, ye don't know how lucky ye are!

I take it you've never been out west then?
Driver, you aint lived until you've seen the Colorado Rockies or the Wyoming prairies at sunset. I grew up in Michigan so all I ever saw where I lived was trees, farms, and suburban neighborhoods, but put me in a rig headed west and I'll never want to go home...
Well, at least til winter hits

I'd love to see that! Just cruise for days with great sites, just peace!

I was lucky enough to have the night shift when I drove team. I'd be starting my day about an hour before sunset and cruising at night. No traffic, no shippers/receivers (day appointments for the win), just me and the open road. Out where the moonlight illuminated the landscape and you could see for miles in every direction.

Farthest west I've been is South Dakota and Kansas. Id love to go to Colorado. I've been in Florida all my life till I became a truck driver.

Yep, the economy killed solo west coast runs. You have a good chance at getting out there if you run for some of the major refer companies or if you try team division, but most of your major starter companies (i.e., USA, Pam, JB, Werner, etc) will have you running short regional runs east of 35.

Every once in awhile we get sent to California. They only send people with 2011+ trucks though because of the emissions junk. We have a terminal in Arizona, just don't have many loads going that way. They mostly send o/o to the west coast to give them the 2400+ mile runs with a pre plan back haul of equal or greater miles.

Yeah, Cali sucks. No idle over 3 minutes (kinda sucks in the Mojave, wouldn't you say?), speed limit is 55 for the whole state, and god forbid you're overweight coming out of LA on 15...
Like I said, most of those runs are reserved for teams, and yes, owner ops as well.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.
