Where Can I Break the Law

Everyone always gets caught in some way.

 

Find it odd myself that the first questions someone asks is what can they get away with!

Same with all the questions about drug testing.

Usually when I see these questions from individuals I know for 100% that they won't make it past the 6 month mark!

 

Well, the problem is there are too many small companies out there who want people who will bend the rules. There is a company I know running twice a week from the midwest to California. They will only take drivers willing to run dual logs and mostly at night to avoid weight stations. Their routes have been calculated to avoid the known enforcement areas.

That is the problem with the trucking industry--there are enough people who want to break the rules to make more money and are not concerned with the safety of the other drivers on the road. It are these people and companies that make the rest of the industry suffer and lose money as the federal government imposes tighter restrictions on those who were already following the rules and not causing the problems.

One of the early companies I applied after CDL school asked a former student to run dual logs.

The problem I see, though, is that a state of "big brother" is about the only thing I can think of to stop it. In other words, put a federal "black box" in every truck. The black box emits a signal and alerts authorities if the driver or vehicle is, or should be, out of service. Trucks without black boxes would be identified by road side monitors and authorities alerted and drivers arrested and sentenced to do hard time.

Unfortunately, I have no desire to live in a country like that--all because a very small number of people and companies break the rules for profit.

 

Play with fire, you will get burned!

 

It is the lazy mans way. And the same people who want to sit on the couch and get paid from our wages.

 

And then people wonder why there is such a high turnover rate in the trucking industry. Theres your answer.

 

Too many have dreamed of being the Bandit.

Trouble is, even my own company seems to want me to run illegal now.

Biggest mega in the States, and they try to get me to commit to loads that I don't even have enough time for a pre-trip.

Plus-1 - load every week - simply means running each and every load like a Bandit.

No, worse than Bandit - because I don't even have a spare hour to hump the stranded bride I picked up along the way.
Much less eat, or do laundry, or shower, or slow down for construction or stop lights, or...

 

sounds like they need the new ,,Air Freight Liner.. that is coming out next fall ,,, only thing is there are no Pilots yet ??

 

People looking to go into any profession and asking first off how to break the rules is just looking for an easy ride. They do not belong in the transportation industry esp. unfortunitly they get away with it and don't learn til they get caught and sadly to often it is because they had a wreck or killed someone. All that so called extra money you made won't bring back that life and now you got a useless peice of plastic in your pocket. Unless you want to use it to get a library card, but look at the "type" of people in question, doubt they read at all unless it has pictures.
