Best of luck to you at swift. 10 spd is just like your 5 speed car, but with a extra few gears. All depends on the company how long you wait. Having an available trainer for you and getting one in your area are the two main issues. -
wow that sucks but oh well its worth it at the end iam going to the tenn school, and live in the kansas area, so hopefully not that long...thank you

Actually been hearing good things about swift as of late. Seems like they are trying to get away from the bottom feeder tag. If you can , try to get on a dedicated account. More consistant miles and better pay.

Thank you Pony! I am finding that out about the local jobs, but that's ok. I'm willing to go OTR! I think that's probably the best way to gain the most diverse experience. Either or, I'll be grateful to be driving and working!!! I wil try to update as soon as I get on with someone. I just want to say thank you to everyone!! Y'all have been so encouraging and welcoming!! Happy to be a part of this community!!
Onetruckpony and TIMEWEASEL Thank this. -
Look around on Craigslist...
Fill out about 50-80 apps and hope for the best...
When I started I got on a dedicated schneider account, saw my house few times a week and was home on the weekends. I knew what my paycheck would be every week, +/- $50.
Good luck to ya -
Just say No! to Craigslist. Go get a job with a Common Carrier/Training Co.(Swift, Stevens,Werner, TMC...) get your 2-3 years clean driving record in order, by then you will know if you want to keep driving. Most of the Big Fleets don't give a darn about your home time....and thats a fact.
Local Trucking companies get you home more often, but pay less. OTR drivers average 3000 miles per week...at 39CPM (plus 5 years exp) cents per mile that's decent pay. Out 3 to 4 weeks per month.
Go pound some concrete, and be safe....lilsister Thanks this. -
doored88 and Giggles the Original Thank this.

women are better drivers...(here we go) because we pay more attention and dont have something to prove or someone to impress.....
fire away.....
unless of course you are one of the women that puts makeup on driving down the road....LOLdoored88 Thanks this.
