Thats a good idea. I'll have to remember that. This is the first time I have run into this type of situation though. Normally I have enough time to at least work it in my head and get a general eta that gives a little too much time then I normally go back and trip plan it for a more accurate one. December 31 23:59 Definatly will remember that but with my luck will remember it December 30th lol:biggrin_25523:

When I have this problem, I send in the arrival call with no load confirmation call. I disregard computer telling me this can't be done. Of course I talk to my FM the next morning, who will work out a relay or change deliver times.

hey I tried explaining to my dispatcher that if I show up at 0900 to my shipper to get loaded if they take 2 hours it leaves me with one hour to deliver 30 miles away across Chicago...not really enough time to make it from one end to the other...lol...

Menomonie,WI? I take it you are going to the Walmart distribution center? If so that should be a drop and hook and it shouldn't have a set appointment time on it.

I send in confirmation right away and then send msg letting them know I can't deliver at that time. Pick up the load and then plan it and follow up first msg with MY ETA. From there my FM can adjust it. Dealing with another FM, I usually don't have any issues. Dealing with night/weekend, 50/50.

Yea it's not. I'm just not wanting to be charged late when it wasn't my fault. Hopefully there is enough extra time so I dont have to wake up at midnight.:sleepy1:

Jeez Louise. If it is close send in the confirmation and pick it up. They can change the ETA later or relay it in Gary. Things come up like weather, traffic or truck issues that can change an ETA. I don't remember ever declining a load in my twelve years at Roehl except one that would have made me late for my own wedding. I still picked it up then relayed it. If they sent it to you go get it and work out the details later. Sometimes that means putting on the big boy pants and getting up early to beat Chicago traffic. I guess this is what trucking is turning into. "Sorry dispatcher I can't pick up this load because it is five hours away and I only have 4 hours and 59 minutes available. The shipper is twenty minutes away but I spent twenty minutes on the phone trying to get a hold of you and now they close in ten minutes so I can't get loaded today." I thought about moving into dispatch. I "shadowed" my dispatcher for a day and saw enough to make me run for the hills. He said out of forty drivers you can send out loads to thirty of them and they will just do them. The other ten need constant hand holding. Between the whining of some drivers and the BS that gets put in their lap from higher up I wanted no part of it for what they get paid.

Yea no way would I even consider being a dispatcher. I ended up relaying it to Gary. My dispatcher was beyond mad when I told him about it though because he said he never looked over any load that was suppose to come to me when I got emptied out. I get to gary with messages waiting to be read...Turns out they are making me a reefer driver for the whole 1.25 hours left on my day/70 lol. They had a delivery that had to be made in Joilet, IL at 16:00. Got it there a little late because the seal didn't match so had to wait and figure out what dispatch was doin. They went ahead and sent me over and now I'm just waiting for the customer to decide if they will take it or reject it. Obviously some driver didn't check the seals or maybe he's a little dyslexic because the seal on the trailer was 148255 and the seal number listed on the paperwork was 184255. Hopefully they take it but either way I'm here for the night and got FULL 4G SERVICE!!!:biggrin_255:.

On another note my AC for the truck quit working again:biggrin_2557:...Just had it at Appleton maybe a week ago but didn't fix it. Dispatcher is getting me home Saturday and when I come back out he's going to get me to a terminal and hopefully put me in a loaner truck or just get me a different one depending on if the AC decides to work while it's in the shop or not work. (Hopefully not work).

Here's a picture of my truck which I have neglected to have uploaded for far to long.

Oh no...I do not like having AC but not having an APU=little to know electronics (TV, Xbox, Computer, Microwave, etc.) I hope that's not true. Although I was told when I started by the end of the year everyone would be eloging (that was last year) and here I am on paper logs:biggrin_255:.

Well I guess that I will have to get used to it when it happens. Guess anything would be better than No APU or Battery Packs like my first truck (2005 International).
