i dont know, i have experienced this as well but i'm the type where if i get a whiff of a chick that is just out for a paycheck or free ride i will send her packing faster than she can spell truck.

i was proud to be a driver as well, i miss it everyday. not the hours, but going back to a normal job SUCKS!!!

Sort of the opposite for me on this one.

I spend 90% of my time running my production plant, but I do have my CDL-A and love getting out of the place whenever I can. I am proud I can run the truck when need be, and many of the regular drivers to my plant are surprised when they find out I also drive the trucks parked outside!

How long does it take to get there? I heard buying a truck is really expensive.

Yes it is very expensive. Its a business! Probably want to drive company for a year or so and learn the biz before making that decision.

I guess i don't really fit in on either side.I've been both proud, and ashamed.
I know what I had to go through to get to this pont in life as a driver, and it wasn't milk and cookies Leave it to beaver kinda life.:biggrin_25513:
Some folk get opportunities that others don't.If You work for a living, and have done the best with what was put in front of you,you should NEVER be ashamed.
Ive slung trash, and hung my head when those snotty folk looked at me in disgust.I've also climbed as high as supervisor at 2 jobs in my life, and was miserable.
I do know how you feel, though.Ive been married for 20+ years into a family of professionals that make lots of money.I will never be more than a mutt that jumped the fence to some family members, but my wife loves me.
Be proud you get up everyday, and dont lay around on your as@ eating poptarts and playing video games letting family members pay your way.
It WILL pay off for you one day.

How much does it take to buy one? What's your earnings average out to after you calculate the cost of the truck?

When someone asks how long the wife and I have been together....they get this shocked look when I say....over 20 years.....

I calm them by adding....."I drive long haul truck...I'm not home enough to fight!":biggrin_2559:

The Bird, whitelinequeen and PayCheck Thank this.
