I understand completely what you are saying BandD...sadly its that way in most any industry anymore.
But I had to laugh picturing you driving up to the church in your truck...bride to be on the church stoop looking at her watch lol

FM get very rudimentary instruction on logging and trip planning during their training. They don't use it day in and day out so they never really get a grip on how it is done in the "real world". FM who have driven get it. Otherwise just get a pillow for when you bang you head. This has been a long standing problem in any company. On the map just remember that it's "only this far" (short line)

I have heard that from almost any company driver I've talked too, its always the same. When you mention after hours or weekend dispatch, makes the skin crawl lol

after hours and weekends....(I am curled up in fetal position) they have screwed me over more times than I can count....usually with Oh by the way we need you to grab this load.....we will relay it off of you cause we know you don't have the hours.....3 days later..I delivered and relay never materalized...sound familiar??
skyviper73 and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
Yup. Every time that's happened I communicate via QC to cover my butt. That way when my FM gets in and asks what happened, ill tell him to look up the messages haha

A few weeks ago I came across a Heartland Express driver that described weekend dispatch is like a screen door in a submarine.

LOL....usually when I get a pre plan that doesn't make sense or the timeline is tight I will accept the plan...then send a follow on QC message stating the problem with the plan...either p/u or delivery time too tight or I just don't have the hours...if they cancel it they cancel it...if they don't I play fetch and get the load.....as long as you are communicating you should be good...
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
They see the numbers on the screen but not the traffic, places to park, big cities to go through etc. My FM was a driver so understands a lot and is laid back a chill. When he goes to home on the wkend then I have numb nuts to argue with

I don't work for Roehl but I do get unrealistic appointments.
What I do is call the receiver and make my own appointment. Then I get on the QC and let them know what it is.
