Hi, I am new here and previously posted this under someone else's thread, but realize if I want people to actually see it, maybe I should post it as a new one.
Here is my situation:
I Purchased a used 1999 Fl70 to run a dedicated route with. The problem I have is the speedometer and odometer are not working correctly. The speedometer is showing me going faster than I really am and the odometer is racking up miles I have not traveled. I have read through the forums and found out how to recalibrate the speedometer, but my problem is that I do not know what the gear ratio is on this truck.
I found a sticker on the side of the dash that said some company modified the truck and changed from 275/80/r22.5 tires to 295/70/R22.5 tires, so am thinking the recalibration is much needed.
anyway, I would like to know if you can tell me anything about Vin#
1FV6HJAA8XHB40557 ??? If I can get the gear ratio, I have the rest of the info to get me where I need to be.
Thanks

I'm not sure about freightshakers but you can change the settings on the back of the speedo on petes so maybe the same on liners since they changed tire size the speedo needs to be recalibrated maybe do a Google search on it worst case you have to take it to a dealer and have them change the settings in the ecm
Eyaldon Thanks this. -
Yes, liners have the dip switches on the back of the speed also. Once I find out the gear ratio I can recalibrate it.
Being old, set in my ways and made of shallow pockets I really want to try and recalibrate the speedo before shelling out food stamps to someone else to fix this.
If nothing else... since I cant find a way to run the vin# on my own, I will just take the number to a local dealer and hope they are nice enough to give me the info.
Thanks for replying though. Be safe out there... there are bears everywhere -
Is there a build sheet in the glove box or on the door jamb? Also there should be a metal tag on the diff if its hard to read use aircraft stripper it works great

WOW! Thanks a ton. They were super friendly and told me I have a 3.90 ratio.. YAY! I will do the speedo calibration and that should tell me if I need to take it in and have the ecm recalibrated or not.
Have a great day... you just made mine for me -
