Sorry I am still the new guy, I figured that empty trailers are dropped off by the company so that they can keep the freight moving. Are you saying that someone has to sacrifice their trailer for it to be left? I have left trailers and picked up loaded ones, I figured this is how it works? Not sure if I am being insulted or notI still love trucking and these problems don't really bother me. I guess I talk about them to see if I can learn tips on how to handle these situations and so far I am getting good advice from everyone here.
No available trailer for drop and hook

I'd be pissed as hell if I got pulled from a trailer and it given to someone else. Oh wait, that happened to me a couple of weeks ago.
And I let the dispatcher know I thought it was bunk too......
If I am given a shot at a trailer instead of tossing it to someone else, they will be sitting, not me.FatDaddy Thanks this. -
I know in a bit, down this posting, someone else already responded, but so will I.
You mean to tell me that I (or anyone) should give up an empty trailer, so another person can get going??? BULL SHEET, and MORE BULL SHEET.
Why on this planet, should I CARE if someone cannot find an empty trailer and I have one?? Why should I (or anyone) give that person his/her empty trailer??
You make no sense in your comment. SO for you, give up your trailer and SIT several more hours, but not me jack, I'm taking my trailer and getting back on the road. Again, it's called SURVIVAL of the fittest, not the stupids.
Why should there be "camaraderie" towards another driver?? Say hello, goodbye, get outta Dodge. I ain't got no time to sit and chat with what is at many times, an ignorant SOB that cannot take life on the road.
Why thank you, yet another intelligent person like me thinking that giving up a trailer to a "sheet-head" is a grand idea.
Screw each and everyone of 'em. Me first attitude, is where it's at. -

And people need to ask why trucking is the way it is.
rockee Thanks this. -
that's right. Get your empty trailer and screw the guy who should have gotten his own in the first place. If I have to look long and hard for an empty so I can get going again, why should I give a flip if someone else stays behind??
Is that person paying my bills, putting the food on my table, keeping the roof over my families head??
I think not, so screw'em.Last edited: May 12, 2012

Finding an empty can be like finding a needle in a hay stack. What I like more then anything is when your dispatcher sends you on a wild goose chase for a trl and you never do find one and because of all the running around, you now have to take your 10.My first week solo Werner sent me on a hunt in Chicago and I ended up at the Ohare airport, lol.I can laugh now but back then I sure didnt, lol.

Hey GIZMO I have a few SPARE trailers , know where " YA CAN SHOVE THEM "
-
Then why don't you give some of 'em to the saps waiting for one???
That is of course, if you are really THAT generous, which I highly think you only "talk the talk".
The "A" Typical" Cb (or in this case) Website Rambo, that you are. -
If you unload your own trailer there's no problem. Slip seating and swapping trailers both stink. I'll keep my trailer Tks .
Gizmo_Man Thanks this. -
I grabbed the only remaining trailer at the Wal Mart DC in Marshalltown, IA.
