:biggrin_25511: To all, right here is what I've got, running from city to city, I live about 40 miles off of expressway. I have told carrier and they have set up empty for overnight parking. Where would be the most secure place to park truck. Will be leaving personal vehicle when I am on duty and truck with trailer off duty. A little worried about routine. I am presently parking at a place where about 20 truckers park every night. I have another place to park across expressway, where there is no traffic. The place I am parking is open 24/7, I talked with owner and he said he has never had a problem, but I am parking at my own risk. He does have cameras. If I have to tot trailer and truck home daily, I don't know if gig is worth it. And just how secure is house, dogs don't bark if not given bones.:biggrin_2559:

    Any Ideas?

First off talk to your company about buying glad hand lock and getting reimbursed for it.Having a padlock on the trl doors would'nt hurt either.Park where your company set up empty for overnight parking.I would think that would be the safest place.

That's why they have a big lot LOL

Mostly truck drivers. I've even parked there over night when the need arises. Never went in, never spent a dime. It's been awhile though. They may be closed.

I park at a couple titty bars when I'm on the road for the simple fact it is secure. Plus a little less traffic and I know at 2am I can still find a parking spot there.

Glad hand locks are easily defeated...a wrench, new glad hand, and a couple of minutes and bye-bye to the trailer. I suggest using the Scheinder method for parking. Back up against a pull or jersey barrier, drop the trailer, secure king pin with high quality lock, back tractor back under the trailer, and secure tractor by locking the doors and possibly a cuff covering the parking brake knobs. This system works great since it takes many times longer for someone to get the load/equipment. Ask your company where they want you to park the equipment. This holds them partialy liable for the security

Thanks for all the advice, the trailer will always be empty but my own padlock on the door would be a good idea, I wouldn't want to deliver a passed out bum the next day or who knows what else.
I will invest in cuff lock for the truck.
The carrier is the one who suggested the spot, high traffic and truckers staying there every night. I probably will look into locking gas caps for tanks even though I've heard they are more trouble than they are worth.
I'm just a little nervous, after you hear horror stories like the guy at Freightliner had just told me. He said that some guys stole a Penske truck and trailer from down the street, backed up to the fence and cut out fence with a torch, they had portable air compressors and stole the wheels and tires off of 80 trucks and trailers and loaded them onto trailer and took off in a matter of hours. Thats all I would need to be woke in the morning surrounded by SWAT team at my house.:biggrin_25513:

what kind of truck? pulling a couple ecm/ign fuses not in plain sight will deter theives also, might get wheels but not truck/trailer if they cant hotwire it!
