Celadon makes you pay a deposit on prepass. air-cuff lock, and padlock. I averaged 1200 miles per week with celadon. WhenI told them that I quit and was returning the truck to one of their secure facilities, they said take one more load. I told them No because I quit. They told me that they are going to put "Abandoned Load" on my DAC if I didn't take a load to Knoxville first. That's 800 miles from home. Then they told me that I have to return the truck to a terminal ONLY or they will charge me $250 recovery fee and $50 cleanup fee and I won't get my deposit back.
If you don't mind low pay, low miles, and being lied to every other day, then this is the company for you.
celadon will ruin you

ONLY 1200 MILES A WEEK THAT SUCKS
-
Do you think anybody would get this sort of treatment if all cdl schools were shut down for six months......
I don't. I think that they would be kissing our collective ###'#. -
Now I'm gonna hear all about how its all this guys fault Blablabla.
So what? 1200 miles a week?
Just tell him it ain't working out,see you later.
Why starve somebody out and then torture them like a 6 year old pulling the wings off of a fly?NWMAXI Thanks this. -
sounds like all that could have been resolved if you gave a 2 week notice first. It is not unreasonable for a company to want one of their trucks returned to a terminal. If you leave it somewhere else then I think they have every right to put "abandoned truck" on your dac and charge you a recovery fee as they do have to send someone out to get it. How can they put abandoned load on your dac when your not under a load and have not picked it up? This is an idle threat. When you up and quit on a company you will have this crud happen. If you decide to quit a company again I would suggest waiting until you are in your home terminal after you have been routed there or the nearest terminal to your home then walk in and hand them the keys.

That does suck and I spose you never heard any of this till after they issued you cuff lock, padlock.CFI was the same way only I don't think I had to pay a deposit of prepas. You should have told them to stick the prepass where the sun don't shine.Companies sure do have an evil way of doing things to get drivers to takes loads and then when u do,you're still not going to ever see that deposit because you left the company and your dispatcher on bad terms.Companies do not care it's either their way NO MATTER WHAT or the highway. There is no reason what so ever why a company cannot get the driver home if he or she chooses to quit. Why be somewhere you're not happy and then have to find your own way home.Laws need to be changed and start looking out for the drivers when companies do this.

I will give an employer a two week notice of my intention to fire them when they agree in writing to giving ME a two week notice before they fire me.
I cannot tolerate hypocritical double standards. If they can do it, we can do it. Period.truckin4fun, roadwarriorflatbeder, zentrucking and 3 others Thank this. -
I worked for them about 10 years ago. I gave a two weeks Notice because I felt I should. I was very nice and Respectful when I told them. I also told them that I would be happy to do the Two weeks and run what they gave me and would deliver on time since it was my Job. But the day after I did they got me to Indy and told me to clean out my truck. The dispatcher was very rude and said if I didn't like it there I needed to go now, and I did. I do find it funny though that when U do the right thing they treat u like Crap.
katwoman and zentrucking Thank this. -
I drive for a company with a very bad reputation.I mean they hire recovery drivers to go pick up abandon trks. But I get along real well with all the dispatchers ppl in the office, mechanics. My dispatcher is a very nice lady and if I decide to quit one day I will be giving a 2 weeks notice.
