I always carry a generic brand folder with serrated blade, glass punch and seat belt cutter I bought at a the gunshow for 15 bucks, I've had it for 5 years, and I still recommend anyone that drives for a living carry a knife with a seat belt cutter on it, if not for your self, to save someone else if you come upon an accident.
Also When I'm carrying concealed, I also carry one of those defense only knifes that hangs on a holder on a chain around your neck (I didn't go out and spend 50 bucks on it, it was free with my boots, lol) -
Yep...I have one of those too....Keep in the Tool Kit for my fifth-wheel....
-
So what do y'all use them for? I haven't carried one for years. I used to use pocket knives for screw drivers, pry bars, hammers, etc. and thy ended up all beat up.
I have a box full of tools now. I have regular kitchen knives for peeling apples and dicing serrano peppers. Got a Gerber double edged pig sticker attached to my driver's seat for self defense.
I had an old neighbor i was giving a ride whip out his pocket knife and proceed to trim his toenails in my pickup truck! I thought that was a bit too much. -
I use mine to shorten up straps, cutting banding, zip ties, shrink wrap and rope. Also used it to cut up pieces of mudflap for edge protection many times.
I also carry a complete toolbox in the rig and only use the knife for what it was ment to do, along with all my other tools. I wouldn't waste the money on a good knife if I was going to use it as a screw driver.Mommas_money_maker Thanks this. -
I carry a good old Sheffield. Its probably close to 15 years old. Granted i have replaced the grip on it once as a result of an accident, but otherwise a good knife.
SHC Thanks this. -
I have more knives than I care to mention. But, I don't buy a knife unless I deem it worthy to be carried in MY pocket. I make sure it has good steel, lock type, handle material, ergonomics, brand, etc...I have many Benchmades, Spyderco's, Combat Elite, and Gerber Multi tools. I'm not a fan of Leatherman...call me cynical, but when a Leatherman let's you down when needed most...you tend to never buy one again. I've carried Gerber tools for years now and they have never once let me down or failed to amaze me. In the process of finding me a new Benchmade Griptillian.
