We travel from canada to down into old mexico about 200,000 miles per year.We travel with 2 other trucks and the company has told me to outfit the radios in all three units. We are all getting our hams and we need export/cb setups for all three.I have a budget of $600 per truck. We want alot of power because we are in very remote areas. Our lives could depend on these radios. We are ok with radios that are not quit "legal", just good and loud. Our trucks are all 3500 Dodge diesels.

Galaxy and Connex both have radios with built in amps and sidebands.

You better check regulations about crossing borders

Get your Ham license then buy a real Ham radio. Because I've seen Drivers get hit with a BIG fine trying cross the border running a Export radio.

working on HAM as we speak

and if your lives depend on it, look to get something like Spot that is satellite based.

Not to worried about border crossing. The last 2 trips into Mexico we had Mexican military escorts from the border to our destination.Very cool guntrucks and hummers, they treat us well.
