What do you mean, in specific, by location? I know a couple guys who run their businesses out of their basements. If they were to get audited would the auditors come to their house? Just wondering..
Got the call today

Yes, place of business. And that is what they are supposed to be doing on the new entrant audit. But many states schedule appointments where you come to the office. I think CO even does it like a seminar deal.

Thanks for the info!

Georgia did my new entrant audit at their office in downtown ATL. I got the call to set an appointment, followed by a fax with directions and a list of stuff to bring with me. Pretty much all the critical stuff. So the only thing they didn't do is observe my home office and locking file cabinet, or look at the equipment. Which would have been elsewhere anyway since I rent parking at another location and both trucks were OTR since it was mid-week.
Short version is: if you look like you've made an effort (using one of the many checklists, I got mine from OOIDA) you have nothing to worry about. They will find a few things you can improve. This link should take you to the longer version of my audit experience if you want to see another story.BigBadBill Thanks this. -

All that stress for nothing. Good job.
Did she say permenant authority granted? Thought that was only done by FMCSA after 18 months.Crazy D Thanks this. -
Well. She said that I now had permanent authority. Of course I could always be audited and it may be revoked however, it is a permanent status. My safety score sucks but she said thats only because I haven't had any raodside or scalehouse inspections of any kind. She said that if I know my stuff is top notch I should go to the scale and ask for a level 1. And that would drop my safety score. I am not into the safety score thing enough to do some dumb crap like that just for a better score sorry. Even though I have an 89 I still have a Satisfactory rating. thats good enough for anything I do. To walk into the lions den and ask for trouble just to lower a score is dumb in my book.BigBadBill Thanks this.

Wow, that is great. They must really be behind in IN. How long ago did you hit the 18-month mark on your authority? And I thought the guy from TN that had his in month 13 was a long wait. I would have been calling the DOT after 12-months trying to schedule this thing.
But right with you on the inspection. I was given a card of DOT officer that ran a scale house in MO and was told to call him next time down that way and he would give me an inspection. He was a good guy but by the time I called him he had moved to patrol and could only give level 2's.
In what category do you have an 89? Time with no violations will bring that down.
Again, congrats on the move up.
