So i had like 10 mins till my 14 ran out because my load that should of been ready wasn't and i couldn't park overnight there so i found a walmart near by. As i get close by i gone over by like 4 mins, and then parked, while my Qualcomm is going off sayin that I've gone over my hos . Then i get a call from my company an hour later saying the owner doesn't want me parked there, which i seen signs but i also seen bobtails there ( which were gone when i woke up ) plus i figure walmarts for the most part didn't mind.No biggie, i understand. So i said yeah ill move, then dispatch said just go onto off duty drive which i did ( also new to this Qualcomm thing and didn't know about that option )and noticed it wasn't beeping or sayin over 14hr violation......... ( maybe because i was driving city speeds or had a time limit to allow this driving? ) so i get on I88 tryin to find an exit because didn't see any type of parking spot. And drove like 20+ miles till i found an off ramp. So question is what's next? Since its logged onto this Qualcomm (which is the newer kind with navigation and sliding keyboard)also i think you have to keep logs on you for pass seven days or so?, and with that said, if i got pulled into a sale or something is that when the violation be exposed or is Qualcomm gonna send this into dot some how? just wondering if i should worry a little? Anyone had problems like this before?? Thx
driving over 14hr limit...elog

Same here. We get scolded and told not to do it again.
DOT understands an occasional goof. Just don't make a habit of it.
Your company is just as guilty of falsification. By asking you to change to an invalid status.
But, guess who would have gotten blamed if you had been involved in an accident.JohnBoy Thanks this. -
Every electronic log should have a line 5, off duty, driving for instances like this. I don't care if you have to get permission to use it, as long as it prevents future CSA points due to parking, or lack thereof. -
Knight gives us a 10% grace. I think DOT gives all drivers that grace, provided you only use it for your type of situation and not just driving an extra hour every day.

Or just note it and do a 10 hour break like you are required. If everyone did it like they are supposed too instead of working for free maybe some real change would happen.

Be sure to have a notation in the elog about the event...
Parked, had to move to safeharbour....would be a good description.
Did the elog yell at you...when a violatiin happens, they can get annoying ....if not, maybe you logged 8 hrs at the shipper/reciever in the sleeper while detained....so the elog is happy...MNdriver and I-80Trucker Thank this.
