Can cb radios be stacked

Shure why not As for heat ....

I find small computer 12 v fans work wonders keeping radios cool and the fans are Cheap ...

Ive been stacking radios for 45 years .......

 

Do not connect the antenna to both radios.

But it is possible to get RF interference between radios, my Icom 706 makes noise that I can hear on other radios around 147 in vhf. My Sirius receiver makes noise when only plugged in that messes with my dash AM receiver, and of course my inverter causes spotty problems with all of them. So if you have 2 or more radios it may be possible, especially if they are different brands or specs.

 

I keep a Cobra 29 on the dash mount in my Cascadia, and sometimes vice grip a Radio Shack mini CB on the mounting bracket on top of the Cobra. I keep one radio on 19 for traffic and the other on 15 for chatting with other company drivers. Seems to work just fine. I have separate antennas/coax for each radio. I use external speakers on both radios, also.

 

If you stack them, you should install an antenna switch to switch between your radios though.

 

YES DO NOT TRY AND CONNECT THE ANTENNAS TOGETHER ! You must use a switch !

 

I'm running a Connex 4300/300 on top of a 2970N2 with one antenna. Both have external speakers. A good quality antenna switch with a Wilson 5000 and NEVER have them both on at the same time.
So far, so good. 6 months of daily usage and NO issues.
