I understand it is a lot to consider and you are correct a std inframe on an isx is in the mid $20k, the good thing about an 02 is it doesnt have the egr cooler/valve but still has the same design longblock and those stupid twin cams! I'm all the way in AR but if you need me for anything or want any good professional mechanic advice give me a shout. I'm young(27) but been around these things since I was 10, and made my living as a professional mechanic since 2006, for what its worth. I'm also pretty handy with tk tripac apu's, I installed those for a while too. jack of all trades, master of some! lol :biggrin_25525:

$50k for a 02 makes dont sound to bad to me with recent work. I have seen some 04's with 800 - 900 going for the $50 range with no recent work so that one sounds like a better deal, not to mention the pre emission is just a bonus. I just picked up a 2000 for a tad more than 1/2 of that 50. Its got a 550 CAT with 300 on a major, 100k on a NEW 18 speed and 150k on rears. OBTW just for the kicker, a willis APU with less than 800 hours. Paper work on the CAT shows $28k and change (4 years ago) so $31k don't sound to far off to me.

Now that sounds like a great deal.

This one does have Carrier APU. Not sure on the hours.

Will drive it on Thursday when I go grab a new trailer but unless they come down a bunch I can't justify the price. Even with all the chrome, wood and gauges.

I got the friend deal that's for sure. I shouldn't have to do any thing but regular maintenance for a few years. New tires, new 7 inch straights and all the chrome goodies so there isn't much for me to do other than minor things that I want to ad. Now I don't mind spending extra money on goodies for this truck since it will be my last.Good luck hope things work out for you.

Wow, drove that 379. Saw the papers and has to have $5k in chrome and lights (not overboard on lights). 9" pipes. Guy wore slippers in the cab. Has plastic over the carpet and had a carpet on top of that.

Crate motor 240,000 miles ago. Rebuilt tranny 50k miles. Less than 2k hours on Carrier APU.

Put it through a truck wash. Light buff on the chrome and it would hold its own at a truck show.

I had to pick-up a stepdeck I bought from them so decided to drive it. Still won't pay that price but it took some will to not make an offer.

Honestly the only reason I drove it was because I was there. And only looking at Pete's for the status symbol portion that comes with it to help with recruiting. Plus fact that I will drive less miles and these trucks have very little depreciation. But the ride is awful in these things.

I will likely be one of the few people that would own one of these and be honest as to why. I had to apologize for laughing at a guy yesterday that said the "hard" ride was a safety feature because it allowed him to "feel" the road and be a safer driver.

That's pretty funny. I'm in the same boat as far as I want a Pete for the status of having one. Kinda like in high school when i had a Chevy silverado z71 with a v8 and straights. Everyone and their brother had a Chevy, but we each did our own thing to them.

I want that feeling back. Owning a Pete 379/389 would be great lol. I still have yet to drive a long nose and still want too.

Hope you find the truck your looking for at a good price BBB!!
