I know. I was like wtf??? Even with a clearance note from the surgeon himself. To quote LH, "It's not looking good...". This kind of stuff makes for long days and weekends. I am just trying to forget about it.
Look on the bright side, there is always the big orange
Thanks slomo. Yes I had a great time at my school and learned a lot as well. The most laid back instructors you could probably ever ask for.
Hoping Superior works out as well. Thanks for the support and positive words.

Well I feel like I am starting to get somewhere now. I called Superior Carriers this afternoon and the safety department gave me clearance. Yay! Suppose to get a call from them tomorrow with a date to go take the driving test. Hopefully that would be before the end of this week. I am going to try and push them.
If all else fails, I made a "corporate" decision today. I will go with Roehl if Superior falls through. They have a training pay package that is close to what I make now so I won't take to big of a hit in the wallet during their training. Once I go solo I should easily make what I am making now and more.
But...holding out for Superior. I just hope I don't get as nervous on the driving test with them as I did at the state exam! haha -
That's great (and unexpected) news Ducky. So glad they are giving you a chance. Please keep us posted as you proceed.
rubberducky68 Thanks this. -
Road test scheduled with Superior Carriers this coming Thursday morning. Everyone pray for me
slomocopshow and MNdriver Thank this. -
Relax man, you got this! Don't sweat the shifting/coasting thing, no one is going to be measuring to see if you went more than a truck length.
Any chance you can knock out the strength/agility thing or the DOT physical the same day?rubberducky68 Thanks this. -
LH did not mention it but I will call him in the morning and see if he could possibly set that up. It would be nice to kill two or three birds with one stone.ped Thanks this. -
I'm confused, do you take the DOT physical at hiring time, or when you go for permit, or both?
-
You have to have a DOT physical med card in hand when you go to the Dept. of Driver Services to get your permit, license, or re-new a commercial vehicle license. It's a new law that went into effect back at first of this year.
When you start applying at companies, most but not all will make you go get another one even if it is only a few months old (like mine).
In addition to another DOT physical, some companies will make you take a physical agility test that involves lifting some weights, carrying them around, climbing, duck walk, etc. to make sure you can physically do the job.
Even though I have a current DOT card/physical, Superior Carriers requires another one and also the physical agility test (provided I pass the driving test). I know Roehl does the same thing as well.
Hope this helps. -
Good Luck!

I'd be interested in hearing what the physical agility test is like.... I'm an old fart with some physical limitations.
