You must have never checked on renting one before $600-$1,000 a month and $.09-.19cents a mile I drove 3,850 miles last week I was out so it would cost me over $2,000 a month to rent one that's nuts and two places told me it would be easer to buy than rent you have to do credit app and all

With the pics you took at the scene, you should have already called the other company or his insurance company and started a settlement. What's the deal????

The ruck should have had a tag, name or dot number on it? That would be where I'd start. You didn't say if trailers is repairable pictures?
I had a broker wanted me to go to port of houston and they thought I's going to let this unknown guy drive my truck in the port. That load got left in mobile.

Keep a cheap camera in the truck, keep ins. on the trailer,it's dirt cheap. Then your ins.co. goes after whoever is at fault. Truckpaper.com shows some trailers in your area. Where i'm from there are numerous dealers that lease purchase to established O/O's,i'd try and get a deal going with $5k down and hang onto the other $5k. I used 1st Guard Ins.

You claim against the carrier's liability insurance, not the individual's. These days, most of the time you actually file on your own physical damage insurance, then your insurance carrier goes after the other insurance carrier and there is no deductible involved.
Just did this a couple years ago, when CRST caused damage to our truck. They paid the full bill.

Work on the police report, they can be slow if the officer is lazy about doing his paper work.

Did you get picts? If so look for the DOT number on his truck, look them up, give them a call, liability ins belongs to whoever owns the DOT number, they probably won't help, give the info to your insurance company, they will pursue it.

call and get a incident number from the police.

Don't even have to ask for a police report.

Take the incident number and hand it off to YOUR insurance.

File a claim with YOUR insurance.....

Go buy your new trailer with the check YOUR insurance cuts you.

Let YOUR insurance company lawyers deal with re-couping the payment from the other guy.

That's why you are paying for YOUR insurance.

I have had to do that with mine and my insurance never went up.
