I second this. This is exactly how I would handle it.

And if they Police don't give you any information, I'd be camped out on their doorstep until they do. They are impeding your ability to make a living here.

incident number might also be called a blotter number or blotter report.

It's entirely possible the officer is still writing his report. It's unimportant to you.

Just get an incident number from the 911 dispatch center and then hand it off to the insurance company.

They take over from there and will do the rest of the work. They have people with the skills, experience and training to deal with that headache.

The first two should have been no-fault. They can't hold them against you. Especially for uninsured motorist.

I have filed for an uninsured, a hit and run and also hail damage.

Never even a question of being dropped.

My guess ishe was a Port Authority Officer..... so therefore a govt officer, which trumps the local and state police.

But still, he obviously does not know his job or just does not care. i too would have just taken the pictures

Got my police report today and to make it short because it's on private property they don't have to say what party is at falt it has his story and mine we both have the same insurance company so now I'm just waiting on a call and see what's going to be done

Your insurance doesn't cover rental? The other guys insurance should reimburse it back to you. That sitting around the house waiting for others to do something will kill you. When I got in my wreck I was reimbursed for my downtime(up until my truck and trailer went into the shop, after that I was on my own. Truck was in the shop over a month) but I would have been better off working.

It may actually work out to your favor that you have the same insurance company.
