How's the pay? Do you run hard or take your time or what? Doesn't Maverick have Electronic logs? I guess if they do you can't run over the limit...huh?

Maverick is one of the highest paying companys not only for beginners but even veterans of many years. I think the range is .43 to .50. Thats a lot per mile but you are not going to run 3000 miles every week like drop and hook guys. First thing is you are going home every weekend so that limits you right off the bat. Additionally the nature of flat bedding is such that it can take several hours to load or unload, one again limiting your mileage. But at the end of the week with higher per mile pay than most you are doing pretty good.
Yes Maverick has Electronic logs, this really does not limit you it just keeps you legal.

Yesterday on my way down to Laredo, TX I had my first blowout. The rear inside right trailer tire blew like a shotgun at 60 mph. I was 20 miles from the TA in Laredo so limped it on in, figured I still had 17 out of 18.
When I got there I ran into two other maverick drivers getting repairs. One of them told me last week he replaced three tires on one trailer. The problem is the tires are getting flat spotted when the trailers are pulled empty. If the ABS was working this wouldn't happen but I guess tires are cheaper than fixing the ABS.

Seawheeler, when you say dedicated are you referring to glass, flatbed, etc..? I would think since I am at the intersection of I74, I57, I72, 39 and 55 I might be through this area more often.

So my husband was approved for a position with Maverick hauling glass our of Mt. Holly Springs and is possibly being scheduled for orientation starting May 27th. The only thing that has me worried is the fact that he will have to quit his current driving job to go to the training and "what if".... they don't offer him a position? :biggrin_2556:
Yes, I am the worry wart wife! He was with Maverick previously, hauling glass out of Mt. Holly Springs, so has experience with them. Has been away from them for approx. 4.5 yrs. Any words of wisdom? Thanks in advance.

If he has an orientation date then he will be hired providing everything goes good during the medical portion and the training. Companies tipically won't waste money and bring someone out there, and send thru training, just to send them home.

I applied to Maverick last week and have not heard anything yet. They said 5-7 business days for all the checks.

I was driving for DoD testing the vehicles that went to our troops in Iraq and Afganistan. Just got laid off on 19 April 2012. So according to trucking companies, I have no recent verifiable OTR. Even though I drove for TMC in 99.
