I've seen a lot more activity by Baker Hughes and Halliburton between Victoria and Cuero. Lots of trucks running around and sometimes they are followed by an entourage of pickups. Anyone here work for either of these outfits? If so can you tell us about your job as a CDL driver for them, what kind of hours you work, are you paid salary or by the hour?

    Thanks!

    Hey Everybody!

I have been on many threads for weeks reading and researching oilfield jobs for my husband and I have to say many of you great guys and gals have given a huge treasure trove of information for me and the hubby. We have eggs in the current baskets, Key Energy, Sanjel, Nabors, and Sun Coast. The recruiters have called my hubby but at this point no takers. Two have asked him how quickly can he make it to Texas since as he has 9 months experience and squeaky clean MVR! The problem is, he currently has a job with a carrier and he wanted to leave on a decent note. For those of you who have been there done this please give some " In your face good advice". Thanks in advance to all that respond.

Alot depends on how much physical labor your husband is willing and capable of doing. Iv hauled water for four years and I never made more than 70000. I just moved to a fracing company and I'll make way more than that this year and possibly hit six figures next year. There's much more oppurtunity in fracing than there is in water hauling. Our supervisors make close to 150000 a year. I was a truck pusher at the last water hauling company I was at and I didn't make half of that.

A pusher is a supervisor responsible for maintaining relationships with customers and "selling" the trucks. It's different from dispatching.

Both Excellent Companies; but I work for Big Hal... Going on 6 Months here in the Pampa Area and its been good too me. I will spend another 6-7 Months here and reevaluate the situation at that time.

The jobs might be too drop a Rack of tanks on site; that's all and you head back to the yard..

Then there's a job to dump waste cement in powder form. Now you're off to the land fill another 1hr away.

Then there is the work on site; I just completed 118 hrs so far this week, with 18 hrs being holiday pay for working Memorial Day. Like I said there is opportunity for more I would like another 25 to set my Record for hours worked.

This is how a typical job May go...

Get the call is first 4-5 hr call out you got 1-1.5 hrs to get too the yard.. Example Job is at 10 pm you will get the call at 5pm to head in do inspections and get too location.
I get there fire up the pump and pressurize the tanks full of cement so that the cement will feed from 1 tube too the cementers truck or another 660 which will go to the cement truck. I then help him setup some pipes to the Oil Rig itself; that's the only time I set foot on the rig itself. Which usually only takes 2-6 hours to setup; depending on the rig setup.

I then pump the cement for stage 1 to the cementer's truck; they are your service supervisors.
Perks for Cementers; They get a company Truck; and their own Yard Cement truck. 1 driver assigned to assist you and, He's trng to be a cementer.

I'm a COA I; we just move the stuff there and Assist with the jobs.. After stage one I may get to hop in the truck and catch 4hrs of sleep.. I wake up for stage 2 and run out the rest of the pots... Help him rig down the pipe and load up to go back to the yard...

Lets say it's an 10-12 hr job; Intermediate Line production job; 5 hrs call out + 10 hrs running the job and 6 hrs of rig up time. You there 21 hrs and these jobs do call out fairly often. If something goes wrong like they get stuck running casting pipe or something; count on it being 36.
I did one of these on Memorial day and they got stuck.

    Toys Onsite

If you're a COA like myself; and I can only speak too this; I will watch Netflix on downtime or some of my podcast radio stuff I like to listen too. I also watched after the initial setup. Some people bring Dvd portable players and laptops.

Call outs in Theory are done by Number; You get called go out when you get back your at the bottom of the call out list. Now if another team is coming on duty you guys move below them. Say your 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] on the list; but a group comes on to duty there are 8 of them. You move to 11[SUP]th[/SUP]. There are 3 teams here at my Yard Red, Green and Blue.

Hope that helps going to hit the showers real quick here and drink some coffee then go to the Yard and get those 25 hrs, I'm anticipating a big move plus I got only 40 last week ... That reminds me don't make the dispatcher mad lmao or that will happen....:biggrin_2555::biggrin_25521::yes2557:

    Pay at this Yard
    $14.00 hr with CDL
$15.15 hr within 6-12 months (You have to complete the computer training so it's up to you how fast)
