Thanks for the response BigDiesel. Where do you think i'd need to be at on a run like that? I know brokers get a bad rap for being cheap, but I try to be as fair as possible.

Minimum of $850. Remember that you are tying a carriers equipment up for a full business day.

If its 1.90-2.10 a mile how much FSC and whats the specs/wait time on shipper and receiver for load/unload times. Depending on all of this you might need to up the rates for a short haul.

If you could find a back haul for that day you might beable to find a dedicated runner back and fourth if the freight pays enough.

Asphalt Sealant will soon be in season, and it's not a cheap commodity. These pallets are super heavy (approx 2500lbs each) which amounts for a lot of wear and tear on trailers, so that's usually included in the price. This product has to start moving fast soon.. if your customer waits much longer for cheap haulers, they will find themselves paying $3+ easily
you know you can talk him into it, instead of following the ideology of "find the cheapest haulers" try finding good dependable carriers to work with, that will give you a fair price. These carriers will position themselves back to your shippers area to haul more of your loads if you treat them right. I don't know much detail about these shipments, but a fair price should starts at $800 for many carriers. For us $850-$1000.
    wish you luck

It is spot market. FSC doesn't matter.

But agree it is too cheap. Current market it tight, 45k is traditional max load load for dry van (42.5k reefer, 48k flat). So you are over the comfort zone. You have to pay a premium for this weight and you rates are on the bottom side of normal for current market.

And no that is concerned about keeping trailer food grade will touch it. That stuff can leave a smell that will linger.
